“A soaring slice of stadium indie rock” – Pilerats

“Loving the slightly gothic vibes, and that pulsing bass.” – Richard Kingsmill, Triple J

“Uneasy and unbearable hypnotic all at once” – Happy

“indie-rock lords WHARVES have taken things up a notch” – Life Without Andy

WHARVES waltz right back into the spotlight with new single ‘Mo’s Desert Clubhouse’, a jaunty belter with ferocious guitars and spooky vocals. The second single off their debut EP ‘Sooner or Later’, which is due out Friday 5th October, WHARVES’ latest offering found its charm with creative input from producer and mixer Steven Schram (Paul Kelly / San Cisco).

The track follows the release of ‘High School Hero’, the EP’s first single and all-round mover and shaker. The band’s lead singer, Matt Collins, describes the organic process of the song and how “The music for this track came from our Sapphire Sessions in March 2018.  We stayed in a beautiful house near the beach in Coffs Harbour and jammed for 3 days straight.  We pretty much wrote the music there and then”.

Collins also explains that “The lyrics were inspired by a roadtrip I took in May with the part owner of the Gold Coast arts venue “Mo’s Desert Clubhouse“. She was explaining her frustrations with the local Council pretty much bullying them into closing. I can’t stand how narrow-minded people in power can be, the arts are one of the most important things in life, without art, life isn’t worth living. It is not a crime to dance.

WHARVES are an indie rock band based in Lennox Head, on the far north coast of NSW Australia, which formed just over 2 years ago but which has made waves on the Australian scene.

Australian music powerhouse triple j gave the band its dues when it awarded them the highly coveted “Unearthed” spot to open the 2017 Splendour in the Grass Festival. This was off the back of their hit 2017 track ‘Man You Want Me to Be’.

WHARVES have teamed up with producer and co-writer Steven Schram (Tiny Little Houses, San Cisco) to produce a raft of exciting dance driven indie rock tracks which have garnered support from triple j and community radio nationwide. Overseas interest has kicked off with WHARVES track “It’s You” recently featured on a World Surfing Leaguevideo which saw ¼ million social media views. WHARVES have also just had a breakthrough in the USA market with their single “Man You Want Me to Be” debuting at#21 on the SubModern Single Charts.

Signed with booking agency 123, WHARVES amazing live set is in demand and they have supported bands such as WolfmotherKingswoodRolling Blackouts CFOcean Alleyand Jack River and played Festivals such as Falls FestivalFestival of the Sun and Bigsound.

In 2018 WHARVES are on the verge of releasing their debut EP and will head out on their first serious nationwide headline tour in November of this year.

Their next EP single “Mo’s Desert Clubhouse” is a stunning culmination of the bands’ extremely wide musical influences coming together in a unique and highly accomplished track. “Mo’s” lyrics are inspired by the recent fight a beloved gig venue has had against the powers to be, a fight echoed across the industry as live music struggles to placate the older demographic who hates noise and to deal with nanny bureaucrats who unfairly single out activities of the young for extra strict control.
