Lennox Head-based indie-rock quartet, WHARVES, are currently on the beach basking in the success they have had in 2017, but it will be a very short break.
Matt Collins (lead vocals guitar), Mike Watson (lead guitar), Scott Finch (bass and synth) and Fraser Perrott (Drums) formed just 2 years ago whilst studying music at Uni in Lismore and Byron Bay.

In May 2017 they dropped their single “Man You Want Me To Be”. Recorded and produced by Steven Schram (San Cisco, Tiny Little Houses) the single received critical acclaim and netted the band their first coveted “J Play” on Triple J radio. The accompanying music video has shocked and wowed and seen regular play on Rage and a premiere on MTV.

WHARVES song writing and studio skills are obvious, but as anyone who has been fortunate enough to see them live knows, their stage show is where they are making their reputation with an incredible, highly skilled and tight performance. Pulsing post punk grooves held down tight by Perrott and Finch are chopped up by the insane guitar skills of Watson whilst Collins snags the audience with his sultry baritone and sexy charisma.

WHARVES reputation on stage has grown quickly and landed them supports with some of Australia’s best indie acts including Rolling Blackouts CF, The Delta Riggs, Good Boy, Polish Club, The Pretty Littles and Kiko Smokes.

In July WHARVES won the Triple J unearthed spot to open the 2017 Splendour in the Grass on the main stage.

One who keenly watched that set was Director of 123 Agency Damien Costin and top agent Harry Moore who were seen running for backstage as the WHARVES’ set finished. Days later WHARVES confirmed that they have joined 123 Agency and its rocket fuelled roster which includes Tash Sultana, Kingswood, Dear Seattle, Harts and Maddy Jane to name a few.

WHARVES will dust the sand off pretty quick as they are releasing their next single in August 2017 with another exhaustive Aussie tour to follow including a showcase at the Industry mecca Big Sound in September.
