"Caravãna Sun let loose like a band of juiced up gypsies...most powerful when they slow things down to let the trumpet take the spotlight" - The Music
"Guerrilla Club is a full bodied sonic feast with no low points“ - 4/5 stars - Brisbane Courier Mail
It’s been quite the journey from conception to elevation for Caravãna Sun with the band playing over 500 shows all over the world in the last five years. In 2016 alone, not only did the band release a string of singles and two breathtaking film clips, the four piece laid their cards on the table with Guerrilla Club their 3rd studio album. The album was given 4 out of 5 stars by the Sydney Morning Herald and described as "a full bodied sonic feast with no low points“.
As part of the Guerrilla Club release tour the band racked up some notable career highlights including playing the prestigious Boomtown Fair (UK), Boardmasters Festival (UK), Arrifana Sunest Fest (Portugal) and Zandstock Festival (Netherlands). Back on home soil the boys embarked on a massive 22 date national tour, living and breathing what Guerrilla Club is all about; their love for Australia and its culture.
“Each song of this album has a common thread that binds them together; our connection to country. Our homeland Australia has fostered most of these tracks and continues to be a huge inspiration.” - Luke Carra (vocalist/guitarist)
Not content with just being a celebration of all things Australiana, the Sydneysiders brought in some serious Aussie heavyweights to help bring Guerrilla Club to life. Recorded at Wasteland Studios in WA, Eskimo Joe guitarist Joel Quartermain was enlisted to draw out the record’s hidden sounds. It resulted in the most contemporary sounding record the band have made, aiming to engulf listeners with it's seamless mix of world-fuelled, rebellious surf rock.
With the band bringing in the new year at NYE ON THE HILL Festival, 2017 is set to be an even bigger one yet.
